Howl for entries: Situation Comics 1

BlueJackal invites your entries for Situation Comics. Take a look at the image below and send in your responses in the form of another comic strip based on the situation provided here:

*The text is an excerpt from the last note written by a Dalit PhD scholar Rohith Vemula from the University of Hyderabad. He was pushed to take his own life on 17 January 2016 due to casteist discrimination within the institution. This institutional murder has initiated a series of protests across Indian university campuses as well as in other spaces.

Situation Comics 1 is the first in what will be a regular feature on BlueJackal. In every episode a situation is proposed which invites a creative participation to unfold as a comic strip. Your entry must be a reflection on the situation provided above and need not be a continuation of the same.  

Submission Guidelines:

  • Your entry must stick to four frames format of the above example

  • Individual as well as collaborative entries are accepted

  • Mail us a high resolution tiff image (min.300 dpi)

  • We welcome the use of different languages. But please send us an English version of the same

  • The text used in the comic strip should be clear and readable

  • Your entry can be in color or B&W

  • Send us a short bio and a brief note on the comic strip you are submitting (100 words each).

  • Submit the application as a Google Drive/We Transfer link only at

  • Last date of submission is 30 September 2016

  • Mark your application ‘Entry for Situation Comics 1’


  • Situation Comics 1 will be published on

  • The editorial team will closely look into the entries and the comic strip will be published on the blog upon selection. You will be informed via e-mail about the selection.

  • We may go for print in the future. In that case we will inform you and take your permission.
